The Choice Is Clear: Bayer Carbon Program
Farming is full of choices—but some are easier than others. When it comes to earning for the regenerative practices already working on your acres, the ForGround by Bayer Carbon Program stands out.
Backed by Bayer’s agronomic expertise and digital tools, the program makes it simple to get rewarded for improving soil health through practices like cover crops, no-till, and strip-till. You’ll gain access to science-based insights, streamlined data collection, and ongoing support from a trusted partner committed to your success.
Whether you’re just beginning your regenerative journey or already leading the way, the Bayer Carbon Program helps you turn sustainability into opportunity—building stronger soil, more resilient fields, and a more profitable future.
Hear from growers below as they share how regenerative practices—and the Bayer Carbon Program—are helping them strengthen their farms for the long run.
Clint Orr – Orr Farms, North Central Indiana
For Clint Orr, regenerative farming is both a practical and purposeful choice. What began decades ago with no-till soybeans has evolved into a fully regenerative system—every acre now managed with cover crops, no-till or strip-till, and precision nutrient practices.

To make management more efficient, Clint simplified his cover-crop strategy—one mix for corn and another for soybeans—reducing complexity across multiple farm sites. The shift has strengthened soil health, improved efficiency, and built resilience across his acres.
Orr Farms has been part of the Bayer Carbon Program since its inception—a natural fit for their long-standing commitment to soil stewardship. “The agronomic tools and data support from Bayer make it easier to track our results and get rewarded for the practices we’ve already put in place,” Clint explains. “It’s about continuing to improve and building something sustainable for the future.”
Josh Betcher – JB Farms LLC, Mazeppa, MN
Fifth-generation grower Josh Betcher manages a diversified Minnesota farm with row crops, pasture, beef cattle, and goats. When his father’s health declined, Josh began transitioning to reduced tillage to keep the family farm sustainable for the next generation. Today, he uses strip-till, cover crops, and conservation acres to protect his soil and strengthen his operation against weather extremes.

An early adopter of carbon-sequestration programs, Josh joined the Bayer Carbon Program, valuing not only the additional income but also the agronomic guidance and digital tools that help him manage risk across Minnesota’s unpredictable seasons. These regenerative practices have built greater resilience across his acres—helping the legacy farm continue to thrive.
For Josh, it’s about more than economics—it’s about stewardship. “We call these century farms for a reason,” he says. “I want to preserve the land for my kids so they can become the sixth generation to farm it.”
Engel Family Farms – Virginia & North Carolina
With deep roots in agriculture, Engel Family Farms spans more than 30,000 acres across Virginia and North Carolina. For the past seven years, Dustin Madison has led the farm’s agronomic and conservation efforts—balancing productivity and sustainability amid unpredictable weather and market swings.

To strengthen resilience, the operation relies on regenerative practices like no-till, cover crops, and crop rotation. “Corn and soybeans make up the bulk of our acres,” Dustin says. “And we make extensive use of cover crops and no-till to improve fertility and soil health.”
Engel Family Farms participates in the Perdue Sustainability Program, in collaboration with ForGround by Bayer, which helps decarbonize grain farming while supporting Perdue’s broader sustainability goals. Dustin values the program’s practical design and agronomic support. “We looked at several other carbon programs, but they didn’t seem realistic at an operational level,” he explains. “The Perdue and Bayer program made better sense—and the agronomic and documentation requirements are manageable.”
Across every region and operation, growers like Clint, Josh, and Dustin share a common goal, to build a stronger, more resilient future for their farms.
The Bayer Carbon Program rewards the regenerative practices already working on their acres and provides the tools, data, and support to keep improving season after season.
